What is Mothers’ Corner?

Mothers’ Corner is an interest group of the British Club of the Taunus. We are a large group of mothers with children ages 0 to 5 years old. We organize playgroups, monthly activities for young children, coffees for expectant moms and moms of babies/toddlers, special occasion parties and outings for families and evening activities for mothers. We conduct two fundraising garage sales each year, in the spring and in the fall. We maintain a play area and book library at the AWCT office in Oberursel. Children’s story hours are held monthly at member's homes. All of our events are listed each month in both the BCT and AWCT monthly magazines, and are available to members of either club.

If you are new to the Frankfurt/Taunus area, we hope to get to know you and your children through our many activities. Please contact any of our committee members to get started with a playgroup, find out about upcoming events or to have your questions answered. We are here to help you and your family enjoy your experience in Germany.

How do I Join?
To join you must be a member of either the British Club of the Taunus or the American Women’s Club. The additional fee defrays the costs associated with the children’s activities, parties and Mums’ Nights Out.  To enquire about membership of the British Club of the Taunus please click here.

Benefits of Membership?
Being an active member of Mothers’ Corner brings many rewards. We offer lots of activities for you and your children to have fun and socialize with other English-speaking families. "Old" members of the organization are always willing to help a newcomer get acquainted to the logistics of life here in Germany. In addition, you will benefit from the emotional support that your new friends will offer.

Playgroups
Contact the playgroup coordinator to get in touch with age-appropriate, English-speaking playgroups in your area. Typically, these sanity-saving groups meet once a week, rotating among the mothers’ homes. The children play while the moms enjoy a little adult conversation…sometimes.

Children’s Activities
Each month we feature an activity geared for young kids. Past favorites include trips to the Opel Zoo, the Oberursel Swimming Pool and the Palmengarten Playground. The events are sometimes free; other times there is a small charge.

Seasonal Parties
Our Halloween party is always a hit with the whole family. At Christmas time, Santa visits the children's Christmas party and at Easter, we have an enormous egg hunt in a beautiful garden at a local restaurant.

Family Outings
Several times each year family outings are planned. These are a great opportunity to socialize with the whole family. Past favorites have been a June picnic, a magic show and local amusement parks.

• Each month we coordinate a fun evening for mothers only. Popular events include appetizer evenings, nutcracker night and a trip on the Ebblewoi Express train.
